Livonia Athletic District

DRD secured equity investors and a mortgage from Choice One Bank to acquire the 90,000-sq ft former Livonia YMCA and transform the property into a multi-tenant modern sports training and sports medicine facility. DRD created the development plan, renovation scope & budget, and operational model.

Working with Five-Eighths Architecture (now Slow Tide Studio), we reimagined the building to meet the modern needs of the community and local sports clubs. The Livonia Athletic District houses two indoor turf fields, indoor pickleball courts, batting cages, an Olympic-sized pool, physical therapy clinic and chiropractor.

Detroit Rising Development self-performed as general contractor, hiring and overseeing the work of each construction trade. DRD also negotiated and secured leases for the gyms, fields and sports medicine offices.
